Digital Radiography is the most efficient means for primary capture of x-ray images
 Practically EVERY DR solution available today can be BUNDLED in a DICOM Distribution proposal. Although the Digital Radiography (DR) system may appear more expensive initially than CR, the DR solution offers improved workflow, efficiency and higher productivity. Thus many hospitals, clinics, imaging centers and private practice consider it to be a preferred method for capturing images.
DR uses an imaging “receptor” to capture X-Rays as they pass through the patient and convert  to digital data. Within 3 to 5 seconds the image/study is viewable at the DR control station where all images are then checked for quality and positioning. The central function of the DR control station is patient demographics, work list management, and quality control. Basic Image enhancement software is included within most DR control stations and allows manipulation and enhancement, including bone and soft tissue visualization. Patient Images are then pushed to either a laser printer (printed on film) or transmitted to a storage device or PACS and stored digitally for clinical and/or diagnostic viewing and distribution.
